- twisted tomatoes - 0.5 l;
- onions (ideally shallots) - 1 pc .;
- dill - 1 bunch.
- red pepper;
- dry white wine - 150 ml;
- olive oil - 30-50 ml.
Snails in tomato sauce are traditional Italian dish. Fresh tomatoes add exquisite flavor and aroma to the stewed shellfish. The recipe of tomato dressing for snails is simple, and the preparation process takes literally 10 minutes.
So, for the sauce you will need:
- twisted tomatoes — 0.5 l;
- onions (ideally shallots) — 1 pc .;
- dill — 1 bunch.
- red pepper;
- dry white wine — 150 ml;
- olive oil — 30-50 ml.
Let’s start cooking.
Finely chop the onion and dill (in the original Italian recipe, instead of dill, wild fennel, but getting it in Ukraine is problematic).
Pour two to three tablespoons of olive oil into a saucepan and put on fire. Add onion, chunks of red pepper (in extreme cases, replace with ground) and literally a pinch of dill in the heated oil. Saute until the onion is translucent.
The next step involves adding cooked snail fillet to the mixture, which is stewed in sauce over low heat under a lid for 5 minutes.
Then you need to add the rest of the dill and pour in the wine. Increase the heat and stir the contents of the saucepan until the alcohol evaporates (2-3 minutes).
Now is the time for tomatoes. Pour in 500 ml of twisted tomatoes and add 100 ml of water. Bring to a boil and cook, covered, about 45 minutes. Season with salt to taste.
